Sleep Dentistry
Sleep Dentistry (also called Sedation Dentistry, Conscious Sedation or Twilight Sedation) is the most advanced form of dental sedation. It uses a combination of sedative and pain relieving drugs given intravenously to create a dream-like state of deep, calming relaxation for the entire duration of your dental procedure.
When you wake up you will usually have no memory of the procedure, and feel like no time has passed at all! You will just feel like you ' ve had a very deep and satisfying sleep. No pain, no discomfort and no fear! You will go home with a heightened sense of well-being and the satisfaction of having attended to your dental health.
What can Sleep Dentistry do for me?

We are Western Australia's primary and leading sleep dentistry provider. Our dentists and friendly, compassionate staff make patients' treatments a breeze every day in Perth's specially equipped sleep dentistry centre.
How do I prepare?
On the day of your treatment, you'll need to be fasted (no food or drink including water or chewing gum) for at least 6 hours. In most cases, you should take your regular medications (except diabetic medications), with a small sip of water only, but your particular situation will be discussed with you. You'll need to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing (no one-piece outfits), and remove any jewellery and nail polish. You' ll need to be accompanied by another responsible adult who must take you home (in a private car or taxi) and stay with you for the rest of the day and overnight. You are usually ready to go home 20 to 30 minutes after your dental procedure.
Over the 24 hours following the sedation, you should not operate any tools, machinery or vehicles. You should not take any alcohol, sedatives, sleeping pills or recreational drugs. You should not do any housework, go out, or conduct any business. Just relax at home with a good book or movie!
What does it cost?
Cost will depend on the duration of the appointment. The advantage of our sedation (Sleep Dentistry) service over a general anaesthetic is that it does not require you to be booked into a hospital, allowing the procedure to be done in the convenience of our inviting, friendly and professional practice - saving you considerable time and money. It is also safer as your body maintains full control of its own breathing.
Why Perth Sedation Dentistry?
We are Perth's leading Sleep Dentistry practice. Our patients enjoy treatment under sedation every day - some find us directly and some are referred by other dentists for procedures such as dental implants and wisdom teeth removals. We help our patients achieve their dental health or new smile without the stress and discomfort and with a minimal number of visits.
Some dentists can provide light sedation with oral or inhalational sedatives. But intravenous sedation (Sleep Dentistry) techniques require a dentist or medical doctor with the kind of expertise that only special training can provide. Dr Misagh Habibi is a Perth dentist with postgraduate qualifications in the field of Conscious Sedation and Pain Control from Sydney University, a course which is recommended by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. So you know that you are in safe, recommended hands. We also utilise the services of a visiting anaesthetist where required.
Before your Sleep Dentistry appointment, we consult you to make sure that we understand your needs and advise you of the treatment options available to you. Because we are experts in the surgical and restorative aspects of dentistry, you are able to carry out complex and varied treatments in one place, whilst you snooze.
